Young Americans Continue Smoking Despite Rise Of Vapes And Edibles

University of Michigan research shows young Americans still smoke traditional tobacco and cannabis despite newer alternatives. The study examined 8,722 people ages 12 to 34 who used these products within 30 days. Combustible tobacco remained the top choice at 31%, followed by multiple cannabis forms at 27%. Vaping nicotine captured 18% while 14% used multiple nicotine, tobacco and cannabis products. Lead researcher Rebecca Evans-Polce noted one in seven users consumed both combustible tobacco and cannabis. The gender gap is narrowing, with females now facing equal risk as males.
