Firefighters quickly knocked down a fire inside an apartment on Redding Road early Wednesday morning. A resident called 911 around 3 a.m. after the smoke detectors went off in his Redding Road apartment. Firefighters quickly responded, broke down the door of a neighboring apartment and put out a fire on the stove. The flames did not spread and nobody was hurt. Crews had to deal with some extraneous problems at the scene. Police say a drunk driver ran into a utility company truck, causing minor damage to both vehicles.
