The American Heart Association’s Healthy for Good movement is joining with LexBeWell, the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department and the Southland Farmers Market on a new initiative that encourages Central Kentucky residents to live healthier lifestyles.
LexWalk is a weekly event that includes not only a one mile walk on a loop from the Southland Farmers Market to Hill N Dale Park but also features $4 vouchers good at the Farmers market. The vouchers will be given to the first 150 participants each week from June through August, but the overall trail will take place every Sunday from May through October 2019 from 11 am – 1 pm. A monthly drawing will feature prizes like running shoes, fitness watches and a bicycle.
“We are so excited to be co-sponsoring this event as part of our Healthy for Good Movement,” said Natalie Littlefield, community health director for the Lexington Division of the American Heart Association. “We invite everyone to come out on Sundays, walk with us and bring home fresh produce to their families.”
This event is open to all ages and there is no cost to register. Participants can come out on any Sunday and sign up that day.
